It is wonderful that you have placed this site for people to read, some of them may or not have had any connection with Telefusion. I joined Telefusion in 1972, we were housed in two terraced houses in Harley St in Hanley, we later moved to Newstead. Prior to your arrival the organisation had decided to embark on an Apprentice scheme, there were two apprentices before you arrived, one was David Stevenson, who has done extremley welll, although looking at your "CV" it looks as if you have done rather well too. Well Done!. The Apprentices, (including your goodself) created a real problem for the likes of me, we were untrained, ignorant, given little in the way of guidance. In short, sadly we did not know what to do with you when you arrived each time at our departments. In the years after Telefusion, I was determined that this state of affairs would not be repeated, Apprentices and young persons on work experience etc would become a priority as part of our management strategy. I look back and regret that I was not able to spend more time with you, and the other apprentices. But my own role as Area Service Manager was changing. In 1974, the Company began to make other Area Managers and Area Service Managers in our region, redundant, and so my original ares consisting of Stoke on Trent and Stafford, suddenly became Lichfield, Rugelry and Swadlincote, later as Bill Chaffe was nearing retirement, John Ball and I inherited Derby, Burton- on Trent, Matlock, Shops, Service Departments and Trident shops and Service Departments, and if you recall I had to move office to Derby, in fact, using Bill Chaffe;s old office. Between 1981 and 1984 most of my time was spent in the office, the car and in meetings. There is much more that you need to add to your site and how the Company developed in the years from 1970 to 1984. Would be glad to help.
