About

More about David Rothwell – Me!
Welcome!
I’m David Rothwell, I’m 50 this year and originally from Staffordshire UK (known for pottery), now Bracknell, Berkshire (near Windsor) and also with 8 years in Swindon, Wiltshire.
Married to Lynne 13 years, she is a teacher in London, I’m the house husband looking after our 2 boys aged 7 and 10.
I like to read, listen to music, watch the odd movie, eat curry and drink dry white wine, strong lager and an occasional G&T.
I’m a racquets sports player (badminton and squash for over 30 years), and I love the outdoors, hills and mountains, walking, and skiing.
I’m a night owl and find it difficult to go to bed before midnight, and I hate mornings.
I’m self employed since 2001 after 20 odd years in IT.
Originally an electronics engineer (apprenticeship) in radio, audio and TV, starting 1976 on leaving school after dabbling as a hobby for several years.
In 1980, I then got into repairing computer peripherals, systems, servers, networks, operating systems, commercial and client-server applications and spent 25 years in total in IT with firms like Plexus computers inc, Olivetti, and Hewlett Packard.
Last employed in 1997 as European IT manager for a USA based global firm servicing the semiconductor industry.
Grew Europe from 120 staff to 350, expanded from 4 sites to 12, brought order from chaos, setup a European support centre and helpdesk with 4 staff, and had a blast.
Unemployed in 2001 following dotcom crash and my fate was sealed by 9/11 after which hundreds of people were chasing any IT job going.
So I decided to go it alone after spending more than year trying to get back into full-time employment – all I had ever known (call me a reluctant and unwilling entrepreneur!)
Thereafter I did many and varied things to earn money in any way possible, and avoid having to sell our house and relocate.
This included IT and telecoms support and consultancy, garden maintenance, house cleaning, local deliveries, ironing clothes – whatever brought in some cash.
Along the way I learned about website publishing, marketing, advertising, SEO and AdWords (since 2003).
Accidentally discovered Perry Marshall in 2004, then Ken McCarthy and subsequently Sean D’Souza. I’m a 5000bc member.
These days I’m a Google agency partner and AdWords qualified company (www.adwordsanswers.com)
I love solving problems and connecting things, so I’m good at and enjoy analysing, consulting, and coaching.
I have tons of ideas and creativity, I’m a strategic planner, and a voracious absorber of new information.
